Couples Therapy in English – in Munich and online

Systemic couples therapy with a licensed psychotherapist – near Sendlinger Tor or fully online, in English or German. Appointments usually available within about a week.

Relationships are alive – and sometimes challenging. When conversations keep ending in arguments, closeness fades or important topics remain unspoken, couples therapy can help you find your way back to each other. Living in another country can add its own pressures: distance from family and friends, career changes, a new language or different cultural expectations. I support couples who want to understand, clarify and actively shape their relationship – respectfully, in a structured way and on equal terms.

When couples therapy can help

  • Recurring conflicts and arguments that go round in circles
  • Communication problems or feeling misunderstood
  • Emotional distance or growing apart
  • Broken trust, affairs or other hurts
  • Different needs, values or plans for the future
  • Stress from parenthood, work, relocation or living abroad
  • Deciding whether and how to continue as a couple

International and bilingual couples

Many couples in Munich don’t share the same first language. Sessions can take place in English or German – whichever helps both of you express yourselves best. Talking about feelings is often easier when you don’t have to search for words.

Couples therapy with a licensed psychotherapist

I am a licensed psychological psychotherapist (Psychologischer Psychotherapeut) with training in systemic couples therapy, and I worked in clinics for eight years before opening my practice. This means I can look not only at the dynamics between you, but also recognise whether individual difficulties – such as depression, anxiety or the effects of stressful experiences – play a role, and discuss what additional support might help.

How it works

  1. First session – we get to know each other and clarify your concerns and goals as a couple. I recommend that you come together. If that isn’t possible at first, the first session can also take place individually – but then for both partners.
  2. Working together – we look at concrete situations from your everyday life and develop new ways of handling them.
  3. Everyday life – you put new ideas into practice step by step. We agree on how often to meet based on your needs.

Sessions take place at my practice near Sendlinger Tor or fully online by video – so couples therapy is also possible if you live outside Munich, travel a lot or live in different places.

Fees

A 50-minute session costs €153, in person or online. In Germany, couples therapy is not covered by statutory health insurance and, as a rule, not by private insurance either. All fees

Frequently asked questions

How soon can we start?

I can usually offer a first appointment within about a week.

How many sessions will we need?

That varies a lot. We often start with a few sessions and then review together where you stand and how to continue.

Do we have to come to the first session together?

I recommend it, so that both perspectives are heard from the start. If that isn’t possible, the first session can also be held individually – but then with both partners, so that you both start on the same footing.

Can we do couples therapy entirely online?

Yes. Couples therapy is fully possible by video, wherever you live in Germany. All you need is a quiet room, a stable internet connection and a device with a camera.

Is everything confidential?

Towards third parties, I am bound by professional secrecy. Within couples therapy, however, there are no secrets between partners: anything one of you tells me – even in an individual session – may become part of our joint work. Please don’t share anything with me that your partner should not know.

Please note: If there is violence in your relationship, please let me know beforehand so we can discuss what support should come first. In immediate danger, call the police on 110.
